Blue skies ahead!

Rationally, I know it almost never rains in L.A. during July.  But booking an outdoor site for the ceremony had me thinking "what if..."

So, I am happy to report that the 10-day forecast shows sunny weather for July 5th with a low of 67, a high of 88, and a 0% chance of rain!  Whew...

A gentle reminder : )

If you haven't yet mailed in your RSVP, please drop it in the mailbox today!  We have to turn in the "final number" of guests to the site next week.

Also, if you would prefer a vegetarian meal, don't forget to drop us a line to let us know.

One last thing, if you have booked your hotel, let us know where you're staying!

That's all my "wedding business" for now.  Three weeks and counting - can you believe it?

4th of July Celebration

Hi all -

Details for the 2008 Americafest at the Rose Bowl have finally been released!   Sean and I thought this would be the perfect (optional, of course) group activity to celebrate the 4th of July together - a great chance to catch up with everyone the evening before the "big" day!

Please check the new "4th of July Event" tab for details.  Hope you can make it!

Engagement picture proofs are back!
If anyone has been wanting to get an updated picture of Sean and me, your wish has just been granted!  This is the first time we have been "professionally" photographed together, and we were delighted with the results.  Leah did a great job!

To see for yourself (and order prints, if you'd like), visit
http://www.leahleephotography.com/proofs/
and click on "Kat and Sean" .  The username and password are both "clancy"

Can you guess which one we picked as the "official" engagement picture???

In unrelated news - a pet update!
Image
I've been meaning to post this picture for a while...  Ever since we sent out the "save-the-dates" featuring Sadie, we've gotten questions about whether or not Rusty is still with us.  Of course he is!  Rusty is doing well in his old age, despite his hearing loss and occasional cranky disposition.  The cats, Emma and Bugsy, are also fat, happy, and spoiled.

Invites are in the mail!
I am proud to report that all of the invites have been assembled, addressed, stamped, and dropped off at the post office.  If you have not received your invitation by the end of April, please let me know and I will send you out a duplicate.

Sean and I are having our "engagement picture" taken on Wednesday - never mind that we were engaged nine months ago!  Better late than never, I suppose!  I will post some of the pictures to the site once we get them back.  Our photographer for the shoot (who is also shooting the wedding) is Leah Lee - and she is a peach!  She has been just wonderful to work with so far.  If you need a photographer in the LA area, I would highly recommend her.  Check out her website at leahleephotography.com

Breaking News!
Hi all -

I just wanted to share some great news with everyone!  I found out this morning that I will be training next year at Cedars Sinai Medical Center!  This is a very competitive site and I was thrilled to be invited.  I'll also be working two days per week at the California Youth Authority in Camarillo, gaining valuable experience in forensics.

This will have to be a quick update as I have a statistics final tomorrow - it's back to the books for me!

Everyone have a great week!

- K

100 days and counting!
Hi all -

I just realized that today marks the beginning of the 100-day countdown to the wedding!  Yikes!  This year has flown by.  It's hard to believe that it's almost April already.  If you haven't yet begun your travel planning, you might want to get started!  And please let Sean or I know if we can be of assistance.

We just can't wait to see everyone.  The invitations arrived this week, and they are lovely.  We plan on mailing them out around the 2nd week of April.  Keep an eye on your mailboxes!

Sean is very busy with work projects right now, and I am buried in preparations for finals.  So, just for fun, (and to help me keep things in perspective), I though I'd share some significant events that occured on March 27th throughout recorded history.  Who knew so much happened on March 27th??

1513 (not 1512 as often cited) - Explorer Juan Ponce de León sights North America (now Florida) for the first time, mistaking it for another island.

1625 - Charles I becomes King of England, Scotland and Ireland as well as claiming the title King of France.

1794 - The United States Government establishes a permanent navy and authorizes the building of six frigates.

1814 - War of 1812: In central Alabama, U.S. forces under General Andrew Jackson defeat the Creek at the Battle of Horseshoe Bend.

1846 - Mexican-American War: Siege of Fort Texas.

1851 - First reported case of Europeans seeing Yosemite Valley.

1871 - The first international rugby football match, England v. Scotland, is played in Edinburgh at Raeburn Place.

1945 - World War II: Operation Starvation, the aerial mining of Japan's ports and waterways begins.

1964 - The Good Friday Earthquake, the most powerful earthquake in U.S. history at a magnitude of 9.2 strikes South Central Alaska, killing 125 people and inflicting massive damage to the city of Anchorage.

1970 - The Concorde makes its first supersonic flight.

1994 - One of the biggest tornado outbreaks in recent memory hits the Southeastern United States. One tornado slams into a church in Piedmont, Alabama during Palm Sunday services killing 20 and injuring 90.

1998 - The Food and Drug Administration approves Viagra for use as a treatment for male impotence, the first pill to be approved for this condition in the United States.

2006 - The United Nations Commission on Human Rights holds its final meeting.

Snow in Yosemite!
Let it snow!
Let it snow!

In February, Sean and I headed up to Yosemite for the third time in a year  - and this time, we brought snow chains!   There was a ton of snow on the ground, but the weather was beautiful.  We had a fantastic time and can't wait to get back there soon.  This picture was taken from the same spot where Sean proposed in August.
